b/w films: change of seminar time

hello everybody,
several people pointed out that the time of the b/w films seminar are very unfortunate since they overlap with two other seminars… so we were thinking of starting later on wednesday, around five pm, but i’ve been told that one of the seminar goes until six, so we will begin at 18h starting from next week.
(but please let me know if you’d like to come but this is a bad time for you, so that i know if this causes more problems that it solves).
as said, next week we’ll watch “Suna no onna” (Woman in the Dunes) an incredibly beautiful film by Hiroshi Teshigahara from the sixties.
Wednesday Nov 28th, 18.00h, Room 115
hope you’re well
christoph
a killer still. made my day. it also reminds me that Wakamatsu, one of the most important of his generation died a few days ago. I am sure there is a animated gif out there that keeps pouring bourbon shots on his grave stone in an eternal loop of reverence. h.

b/w films: "La belle et la bête"

Hello everybody,
following up the “scientific” psychoanalysis from last week, this wednesday will be more about the fantasy and surrealist world:
we’ll watch “La belle et la bête” (Beauty and the Beast) by Jean Cocteau (F 1943, 96 min) after the classic fairy tale.
we’ll also watch a part of Cocteaus first film “Le Sang d’un poète” (The Blood of a Poet) (F 1930, 55 min), and hopefully we have enough time for “Un Chien Andalou” (An Andalusian Dog) by Luis Buñuel (F 1929, 16min) (which in turn was his first film).

Farocki, Med on 20.11, 14h

On Nov 20th – INSTEAD OF CLASS MEET – we will meet at Galerie Barbara Weiss,Kohlfurter Strasse 41/43, 10999 Berlin, 14h to watch Harun Farockis new film:
Ein neues Produkt (A New Product), 2012, 37 min., colour, sound.

Then we will walk over to ngbk, Oranienstr. 25 to see this show at 16h:
Desertmed is an interdisciplinary research project. The “blind spots” on the European map serve as its subject matter: approximately 300 uninhabited islands in the Mediterranean Sea. A group of artists, architects, writers and theoreticians travelled to about 40 of the —often difficult to access— islands in search of clues, impartially cataloguing information that can be interpreted in multiple ways. The result is a pool of photographs, audio and video recordings,  presented along with further artistic contributions. They examine the myriad ways in which the individual islands are used and – accordingly – their significant political, economic, and historical interrelationships.
Artists: Fabian Bechtle, Bik van der Pol, Leon Kahane, Deborah Ligorio, Stefanos Tsivopoulos, Luca Vitone and the Desertmed Collective: Giulia Di Lenarda, Giuseppe Ielasi, Armin Linke, Amedeo Martegani, Renato Rinaldi, Giovanna Silva with contributions by: Elina Axioti, Giulia Bruno, Daniele Ansidei, Aristide Antonas, Antonia Dika, Laura Fiorio, Stefano Graziani, Franck Leibovici, Donato Ricci
Project Group: Fabian Bechtle, Wilfried Kuehn, Armin Linke, Marina Sorbello, Antje Weitzel
